Our Mother’s Day competition in association with AFC Bournemouth saw one lucky mum treated to match tickets, a stadium tour and prizes to keep.

Bournemouth-based Cherries supporter Caroline Jacobs was chosen as the winner after being put forward by husband Ashley Jacobs and son Alex.

Our competition invited fans of the Premier League club to nominate the mums in their lives for some deserving recognition and a fabulous day out.

Entries were welcome from spouses, partners, children, grandchildren, siblings, friends or colleagues.

In his nomination for Caroline, Ashley described her as ‘a fantastic mum and an amazing wife’, adding:

“She’s the most positive smiley and energetic person I know and always has a positive outlook on life.”

We organised several prizes for Caroline, including a hamper filled with AFC Bournemouth merchandise, a £100 gift voucher for the luxury Monart Spa in Poundbury, relaxing treats and a £150 Umbro voucher kindly donated by Umbro, the club’s kit sponsor.

She also received four tickets to the WPL Division One match at the Vitality Stadium against Maidenhead United.

The trip began with a meet and greet and a visit to the changing room in the company of Cherries captain Maisy Smith and defenders Amber Treweek and Kelly Fripp.

Caroline was presented with a hamper of goodies and enjoyed a tour of the stadium before watching the Cherries ladies’ team in action. The game, which finished in a nil-nil draw, was played in front of a record 3,067 fans.

Caroline said: “We had a great family day out with some special memories that we will remember forever. We were spoilt all day long. Thank you MSP Capital and AFC Bournemouth.”

MSP Capital are partners of the women’s team as well as being the club’s official training wear sponsor.

Rachel Bartlett, our Marketing Manager, said: “Congratulations to Caroline. We’re so glad she has enjoyed her win and the treats we arranged for her.

“It was a real privilege and very humbling to read the nominations that came through about the strong women who take care of so many of their loved ones.

“The competition is a prime example of the impactful work we can do in our community when partnered with a club such as AFC Bournemouth.”

Rob Mitchell, commercial director at AFC Bournemouth, said: “We were delighted to join forces with MSP Capital to celebrate Caroline, who is an incredible woman.

“Mother figures, in whichever form they come, make a huge impact on the life of young people and the nomination from Alex and Ashley highlighted how remarkable Caroline is.

“We enjoyed hosting her at the women’s game and she had a great day, meeting all the players and receiving a hamper full of goodies.”
