Chris Wright, the Associate Director of Valuation at MSP Capital, has over a decade of experience in property valuations and brings a dynamic perspective and a wealth of knowledge to the company.

I sat down with Chris to learn more about his journey, from his beginnings in the industry to his current role at MSP Capital.

Early career

Starting his career in sales and marketing, he soon realised his true passion lay elsewhere. Pursuing a master’s degree in European Real Estate at Kingston University, Chris found himself drawn to the world of property. He began his professional journey at Edward Simmons, which later merged with Lambert Smith Hampton. Chris then spent a year at Vail Williams before finding his way to MSP Capital.

Reflecting on his transition into property valuation, Chris shared, “At 27 years old, I started late into the industry…  joining the industry in late 2007, 2008, just as the financial crisis started. So, whether that was good or bad timing, I don’t know.” Despite the challenging economic climate, Chris thrived, gaining valuable experience in valuations for secured lending and developing a keen understanding of property markets.

Making the move to MSP

Chris was approached by Adam Tovey, to join MSP Capital five years ago as a valuation specialist. Chris has since risen through the company to become Associate Director of Valuation. Describing his journey, he said:

“It does seem a long time ago. I think I was employee number 14 and now there are over 50 employees. I loved it from my first day… if you don’t take chances and opportunities sometimes, you may live to regret it.”

One of Chris’s greatest strengths lies in his people-centric approach. He prides himself on being a ‘people person’ who enjoys getting involved and understanding his colleagues’ work within the company. Chris emphasised, “I just want everybody to experience the same feelings I felt. It sounds a bit corny, but MSP did change my life.”

Keeping MSP active

Beyond his professional pursuits, Chris leads an active life. He’s passionate about running and has rediscovered his love for the sport through MSP Capital’s facilities and social clubs. Chris also finds joy in spending time with his family, including his two children. He shared, “I wouldn’t have it any other way… MSP again, have been great at giving me that sort of flexibility to spend time with them.”

When asked about his favourite aspect of working at MSP Capital, Chris highlighted the collaborative nature of the team and the sense of shared success. He remarked, “It’s great to see everyone working so closely together to achieve our shared goals and ambitions for MSP Capital. The passion is clear to see in the office.”

In addition to his professional achievements, Chris has been actively involved in community initiatives at MSP Capital. He recalled organising a memorable team trip to Devon and emphasised the importance of giving back to the community. Chris is also a trained mental health first aider and assists the MSP wellbeing committee with providing great staff initiatives.

As MSP Capital continues to grow and evolve, Chris Wright remains a key figure, bringing his expertise, passion, and dedication to the team. With his extensive experience and commitment to excellence, Chris personifies the spirit and collaboration at MSP Capital.

As Chris continues to make strides in his career, he remains committed to driving positive change and making a meaningful impact in the world of property finance.
