MSP Capital has paid for charity MYTIME Young Carers to become the front-of-shirt sponsor of Wimborne Town FC.

The move is part of our recently launched ESG strategy – ‘Foundations for Better Futures’ – which focuses on helping local communities and charities.

Founded in 2013 and based at Avonbourne School in Bournemouth, MYTIME Young Carers provides safe spaces, respite breaks and other support for five-to-25-year-olds who juggle care responsibilities at home with school, college or work.

Paul Miracca, Joint Managing Director at MSP Capital, said the firm understood the ‘fantastic brand awareness’ that sports partnership can bring, having previously been a front-of-shirt sponsor of local premier league club AFC Bournemouth.

At the same time, he said colleagues were keen to help Wimborne Town, a Southern League Division One South club founded in 1878.

Paul said: “We have a long association with Wimborne Town Football Club and some of our colleagues have been fans for over 40 years. We are all impressed by their desire to help the local community with their development centre and work with local schools.

“This type of initiative is the type of good we want Foundations for Better Futures to achieve. Donating this sponsorship to a local charity will give MYTIME a unique opportunity to get in front of their target audience of young people and their families who need support.

I first came across MYTIME at a fundraising quiz and have been so impressed with them ever since. With MYTIME’s support, young carers can continue doing great things for their families and still get the support they need to further develop the incredible, and often unrecognised, skills for future employment. I think this part of the charity is an area any business should look to be involved in.”

As well as helping individual carers directly, MYTIME works with schools, local authorities and communities to increase support and understanding of young carers and their needs.

There are estimated to be around 700,000 young carers living in the UK and it is widely recognised that childhood caring responsibilities can and often do take a toll on young people’s mental and physical wellbeing, academic performance and adult outcomes.

Krista Sharp, Chief Executive Officer at MYTIME Young Carers, said: “MYTIME is so grateful to MSP Capital for sponsoring the shirts at Wimborne this season. It’s going to be amazing to have our name emblazoned across the front of the shirts and know that 500 people come to watch this game every weekend. They’re going to get to see who the charity are and learn about what we do. I think for the young carers themselves, it’s going to be something they’re really proud of.”

Tony Grant, Chairman at Wimborne Town Football Club said:

“The community is hugely important to Wimborne Town FC. I think it’s a fantastic partnership with MYTIME and MSP Capital. I was involved with a young carer’s group a few years ago and I actually saw what was going on with the youngsters looking after their family. I think the publicity that MYTIME will get is a great opportunity.

Founded in 1981, MSP Capital is a principal development and bridging lender, offering solutions for sums up to £20 million.
