We have continued our support for a hospice charity’s annual memorial afternoon enabling hundreds of people to make heartfelt dedications in honour of loved ones.
We have once again partnered with Forest Holme Hospice to help facilitate their free-to-attend ‘Tie A Yellow Ribbon’ community event in Poole Park.
It is an opportunity for people, whether or not they have a connection with Forest Holme, to join together, remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones by writing personal dedications and tying a yellow ribbon in their memory.
Families and contacts from across Poole, Wimborne and the Isle of Purbeck attended this year and their ribbons are now on display in the grounds of the Dorset-based hospice as a tribute that will be in place for the rest of the summer.
MSP Capital Chief Executive Leigh Bartlett said: “Since its founding in 1994, Forest Holme has delivered essential and inspiring support for tens of thousands of people and their families trying to cope with life-limiting illnesses.
“As a business that began and still operates from the charity’s Dorset heartlands, we feel honoured and privileged to do our bit to support Forest Holme staff and volunteers to continue to help people at what will typically be a very difficult time.”
As well as the opportunity to write dedications and tie ribbons, attendees took in craft stalls, choir performances and craft activities for children and were encouraged to bring a picnic to eat in the peaceful surroundings of the park.
Among the guests this year were the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Tracey Newman, and the Sheriff of Poole, Cllr Rosemarie Stirk.
