We’re pleased to announce our sponsorship of competitive clay shooter Chris Morgan for the 2025 season, as part of our continued commitment to supporting local grassroots sports talent.

Chris, a regional champion and one of the top 20 ranked shooters in England across two clay disciplines, is set for a packed schedule this year, including competing at the Clay Pigeon Shooting World Championships in July. Our sponsorship will contribute to the cost of essential equipment, including his skeet vest, competition bag, protective slips, and cartridges.

At MSP Capital, we believe in backing people with passion, drive, and determination, where Chris embodies all three. He’s worked his way up from amateur to professional over the last decade and is now as focused as ever for competition at the highest level

As Chris explains: “When I met MSP Capital, I told them how passionate I am about shooting and competitive sport. They encourage sporting people to progress and I love the idea of working with them. It’s a great privilege. Knowing you have a team around you, being part of the journey, believing in you and willing you along, is an enormous help.”

MSP Capital’s Commercial Director Adam Tovey said: “Climbing the ladder of elite sport takes a huge amount of dedication, hard work and financial outlay, in Chris’s case over more than ten years. This collaboration highlights our commitment to fostering the talents of people who begin as grassroots athletes and helping them work towards opportunities to thrive at the highest levels. We wish Chris all the very best for the season.”

Chris’s journey into competitive shooting was unexpected and materialised following a family birthday event. Chris explains: I was at a family birthday event at a hotel and there was a ‘have a go’ opportunity. I’m right-handed but left-eye dominant so I tried with the gun on my left shoulder. The instructor said he thought I was really good and should consider doing it competitively. I went clay pigeon shooting soon after and got the bug.

The second club competition I did I won. I then tried competitions run by the CPSA (Clay Pigeon Shooting Association) and saw the difference in standards. I came second in a competition to George Digweed, a world champion. He scored 97 out of 100, I scored 94. It snowballed from there. I now compete in all clay shooting disciplines.”

The 53-year-old father of two and identical twin also teaches at two prestigious shooting schools and continues to inspire others with his story, all whilst running his plumbing and heating business in Andover, Hampshire.

Chris has won his class at the English Open and been ‘High Gun’, the top placed competitor, in more than 20 different competitions.

He now competes in all clay shooting disciplines and favours a 12-gauge Beretta DT11. His season started with the Essex Masters in April, with the World Championships set for July at E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground in Buckinghamshire.

When asked about the skills needed for competitive shooting, Chris replied: “Hand-eye coordination is an enormous factor, and balance and timing are extremely important too. On top of that, the difference is mental toughness. You have to be calm under pressure and that is my major strength. I can feel the adrenalin but I have the ability to stay ultra calm and focus.”

Chris is just one example of the kind of individual we’re proud to support. At MSP Capital, our passion for sport and community runs deep. We’ve long been involved with AFC Bournemouth, and we host a popular annual beach volleyball tournament to raise money for local charities. Supporting talent like Chris is a natural extension of our belief in building stronger, more connected communities through sport.

The World Championships take place at the E.J. Churchill Shooting Ground in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, in July.
