A day of tennis

On 6th July 2023, we held our Wimbledon event at the Nici Hotel in Bournemouth.

The event was attended by over 100 property professionals, including developers, solicitors, valuers, accountants and surveyors. We also invited our three core charities along to network with attendees: Julia’s House, Lewis Manning Hospice and MYTIME Young Carers.

 

Learning about tennis

 

As the second round of Wimbledon played on three TVs around the room, Paul Kinvig masterfully compèred the event entertaining our guests with games and facts about the oldest tennis championship in the world.

Some of our favourite facts that Paul shared about Wimbledon are:

  • 28,000 kg of strawberries are eaten each year at Wimbledon
  • Wimbledon was first televised in 1937
  • The longest tennis match at Wimbledon lasted over 11 hours

A memory to take away

 

We organised for guests to be drawn by talented caricaturist, Michael from King’s Caricatures. These unique and themed drawings delighted our guests and meant they had something to take away and keep from the day.

Community giving

 

As part of our themed decorations, we used tennis rackets and 150 tennis balls as part of the decoration which was put together by Hillview Flowers. These have since all been donated to the West Hants Tennis club, who will use the equipment for their community tennis club – the Bournemouth Gardens Community Tennis Club.
